beach film set The time and situation for a public-relations campaign to make your film location well known as a production location for central European film- and TV-companies could not be better than now! Germany is the second biggest film industry in the world, after the USA, with gross profits in sales in the $ billions! German production companies shoot more films, TV movies, TV series, commercials and music videos than any other European country. The Euro currency is strong, making many destinations outside the EU very affordable for Europeans.

Central European producers from Germany and the neighbour countries Austria and Switzerland are always on the lookout for new locations for all kinds of TV-Series, films, shows and music-videos. The same is true of German photographers and art directors looking for photo shoot locations. Even the better, if good weather conditions, extraordinary landscape and low costs are found there. Outside shoots always are a challenge and risk for German producers. In Germany only in the middle of summer outside shooting conditions are good, but then it’s often too hot there, making concentration more difficult and work harder. The rest of the year German weather is very variable, making it impossible to guarantee the run of production. Dark and rainy days with cancelled filming even cost the German producers extra: the crew and cast still get their money and a new production day has to be scheduled and paid for.

movie film roll For all of these reasons, and to draw inspiration from new surroundings, the German Film- and TV-Industry started to massively move their production work to weather-safe areas for several years now. A hot-spot turned out to be in southern Florida, centered in South Beach, Miami where a new industry of film-, TV- and advertisement-production has evolved since the early nineties and helped local growth of all businesses. Since a few years the scene is moving to Cape Town in South Africa. But the known spots in both countries are now overfilmed. So take your chance and promote your location now!

The buzz created by the glamour that audiences associate with places where film and TV are happening help attract visitors and investment to all local industries. California, the south of France and Monaco have been examples of this kind of success story for decades, drawing visitors from around the world.
